The Terrible Trifecta: What causes varicose veins!

According to research there are a number of things that can cause varicose veins to perturb our daily lives…

Recent surveys which were performed found that varicose veins and venous deficiency occurred because of our daily habits. We are under constant pressure by celebrities to change our lifestyles and exercise for beauty, and now there is a whole new reason to create a paradigm shift in your life. There are three main choices we make in our daily lives which can impact the appearance of varicose veins in the legs, arms and other areas. Here at the Sunshine Vein Clinic in Peregian Beach we can provide thorough treatment for varicose veins, however we also want you to maintain your health and smooth skin after treatment which means adhering to this lifestyle changes.

1) Being unhealthily overweight can cause veins to bulge

When you put on excess weight you are putting extra pressure on your veins. The fat deposits in your body enlarge, causing every other part of you to be pushed from the inside. This can cause veins to stop working properly, which is when the valves are not as capable of pushing blood back up the leg or other part of the body. This causes blood to pool and veins to bulge, giving them their snake like appearance which everybody abhors. Walking for 30-40 minutes on a daily basis can also improve your circulation by promoting blood flow due to activity.

2) Pregnancy can also put extra pressure on the body

When you’re pregnant your body will go under significant change as expected, but what people do not realise is that pregnancy can put extra pressure on your circulation. This forced your veins to work harder when pushing your blood to your heart which can result in dysfunctional valves, which can cause veins to bulge. Pregnancy can also complicate general activity when you get into your third trimester which is another reason why veins may pool and bulge or become sore. If you are pregnant it’s important to do some light walking to not only maintain your circulation but also maintain the strength of your core muscles.

3) Retail and office work are the occupational culprits for varicose veins

Varicose veins can occur due to extended periods of inactivity which is most common in office jobs, where you are sometimes required to suit for up to 8 hours a day. Just as dangerous as this, if not more, are occupations which involve standing for this long or even longer! This can put extreme stress on your veins as they try to constantly pump blood back up to your heart and upper body. This can cause the valves to stop working properly and once again, bulges to form.

Treating your veins is imperative to your health and beauty of your body

Here at the Sunshine Vein Clinic in Peregian Beach we have seen the effects that varicose veins can have on the body. If left untreated these veins can get even worse and even cause the skin surrounding them to thin. Once this happens they become very susceptible to bursting, which is a very unpleasant and sometimes painful experience that no one wants to go through. In order to treat your veins we use a number of different treatments including:

  • Microsclerotherapy
  • Vein Gogh Thermolysis
  • Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy
  • Endovenous Laser Treatment

All of these treatments work to either physically remove your veins or cause them to be absorbed into your bodily tissue.
